Update on Marissa
Quick update. She was admitted to the hospital last night to start TPN, but the GI team had already went home for the day so they couldn't do it last night. All was not lost as she was very dehydrated and low on potassium and magnesium, so they gave her IV fluids that contained these essential nutrients throughout the night.
The hospital does not prepare the TPN solution on site - they send out for it - so the order went out this morning and they will be starting the TPN around 10pm this evening when it arrives at the hospital. She will be in the hospital most likely until Tuesday now (Monday they will teach us how to do the TPN at home and monitor us giving it to her and then if we are comfortable with giving it ourselves then she will be discharged Tuesday). I will keep everyone posted.

Sean, please please have the doctors look for clinical trials. I have lost two sisters from cancer in the last eight months who tried taxol and gemzar. There is an excellent cancer center at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. These drugs do nothing but cause heart, abdomen, and so many other problems. I so wish my sisters had insisted on finding others. Best of luck to you both. Will keep you in my prayers.

Sean,
I am so sorry this has to be Marissa's and your path. My wife and I are on the path too.
To the extent that it helps to know others bear a similar burden, please know we are here for you.
